This makes sense except for why the AC would be active. You wouldn't get 'hot' air but you shouldn't get active AC air, either (unless somehow the system decides if that flap doesn't switch it just mean it should keep the AC on). I thought it was just the flap until I saw the AC is actually active. Now I think it is a sensor thinking it's still hot in the car.
